Since many tree growers were already largely sold out, the Flemish Florall fair in Waregem had fewer exhibitors than usual. Though growers still speak of a favourable market, they can feel the ghost of inflation approaching. This, together with the war between Russia and Ukraine, sparks fears of a market turnaround.
“We may be facing an economic crisis. I am convinced that we will be noticing the effects of the war between Russia and Ukraine,” says Dirk Descamps of D&V from Menen in the province of West-Flanders. His is the first stand that visitors pass when they enter Florall, Waregem’s regional fair for plants and flowers. (..)
