Chelsea Flower Show 2021: colourful autumn

The Chelsea Flower Show took place in the heart of London from the 21st until the 26th of September this year. It was the first time in more than a hundred years that the show was held in autumn instead of spring. Earlier this year, the organisation decided to postpone the show due to the coronavirus pandemic. For the designers, it created a unique opportunity to showcase the abundance of autumn in all its different colours, as demonstrated by the great variety of plant palettes on display.

The show featured around thirty gardens, including six large show gardens, six so-called sanctuary gardens and two artisan gardens. Prizes were awarded in all three categories. Below follows a description of eight of the Chelsea gardens. Some were award winners, others were selected for their current theme or a particularly striking feature, and they all stood out for their stunning designs.
