International horticultural exhibitions are money-guzzling events. Why do we keep organizing them, despite the fact that they always seem to end with a financial loss? It is one of the questions that will be answered in the new Floribusiness magazine.
In the new Floribusiness magazine there is a special attention to international horticultural exhibitions. In 2022, Floriade will be organized in the Netherlands.
The 2022 Floriade in Almere has already been characterized by financial problems. The initial cost estimate of €10 million has already gone up to around €60 million. Incidentally, the Netherlands isn’t an exception. German world horticultural exhibition IGA Berlin closed with a loss of €10 million in 2017.
Previous international horticultural exhibitions in Germany suffered losses too. The 2003 IGA in Rostock, for example, suffered a loss of €20 million and the 2013 IGA in Hamburg a loss of €37 million. Why do we keep organizing international horticultural exhibitions, despite the fact that they always seem to end with a financial loss?
In the new Floribusiness magazine you will also find articles and blogs on floriculture in China, Ukraine, Poland, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Kenya, Brazil, Ecuador and Colombia.
