More than a hundred thousand Dutch tulips bloom on Maidan Square in Kiev. Ukraine is celebrating 30 years of independence this spring. The Tulip Festival is part of the celebration.
Emiel de Sévrèn Jacquet, Honorary Consul of Ukraine in the Netherlands took the initiative for the Tulip Festival. “It is fantastic to see that people enjoy the Dutch tulips so much. People take an incredible amount of photos and selfies with the flowers. It really makes them happy.”
The Ukrainian-Dutch Tulip Festival is an annual event that also includes a network meeting for entrepreneurs and politicians. The festival emphasizes the friendship between both countries. One of the largest investors in Ukraine is The Netherlands. The country is active in the fields of economics, culture, science and humanitarian projects. The tulips are expected to bloom until the end of May.
