Canada is a big country; in fact, it is the second largest country in the world, way behind Russia and just before China and the USA. Still, Canada is often referred to as USA’s little brother. That is because of its much smaller population and economy. Ranked by density it is only number 204 in the world (with the vast and scarcely populated North as a factor). Ranked by GDP, Canada is number 9. The USA’s GDP and population is about tenfold. The EU’s combined GDP is roughly equal to that of the USA but with 25% more people and 3 times the density.
It is ok to be the USA’s little brother… a bit more in the political and economical shadow, with more space and lower trees, catching less metaphorical wind. It feels relatively safe and stable that way. (..)
