The European Commission is reviewing 13 high-risk plants that are subject to the EU import ban.
Along with the introduction of the EU Plant Health Regulation on 14 December, the EU import ban of 35 high-risk plants also applies. This is due to the possible introduction of harmful organisms. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) reports that a new risk assessment of the following 13 genera on the list is being carried out:
Acacia, Albizia, Baunhinia, Berberis, Caesalpina, Cassia, Cornus, Hamamelis, Jasminus, Ligustrum, Lonicera, Nerium en Robinia. According to EFSA, the risks of Albizia julibrissin en Robinia pseudacacia are already been reviewed, but it is not clear what will happen to these species.
