Hundreds of new products for garden retail were presented at Glee Birmingham 2018. A new Agapanthus bred in South Africa won the top award in the category plants, seeds and bulbs.
All the entries at Glee, held from 10 till 12 September in the UK city of Birmingham, were judged by representatives from independent and multiple retailers and international suppliers, reports DIY Week.
Winners were choosen across nine categories. Agapanthus Fireworks (’MDB001’) scooped the award in the category ’Best plants, seeds and bulbs’. The new variety, under royalty management of Plantipp, was presented by UK company Wyevale Nurseries. Fireworks is bred by De Wet Enviroscaping in South Africa and produces big flowers in two colours.
