Brazil is known as a vast country with a relatively large population. During the pandemic, we faced many challenges here, some predictable and some previously unimaginable. One of the challenges we have had to address in the past few months is finding employees for our greenhouses. Despite the high unemployment rate, which approached 15 percent in Brazil this year, it is very difficult to find new employees and retain the current ones.
Although this has been a problem for some time, it was aggravated by the pandemic, largely due to a series of aid schemes introduced by the government to support the country’s poorest, who were affected the most during the pandemic. (..)
