At the first day of GreenTech Amsterdam, GreenTech Americas has been launched. The spin-off will take place from 24-26 March 2020 in Querétaro, Mexico. GreenTech sees this as a logical next step, as Mexico is a major agricultural producer, the number of hectares under protected agriculture is growing exponentially and it is the gateway to US, Canada and South America.
Why GreenTech Americas? Mariska Dreschler, Director Horticulture GreenTech: “We believe that with GreenTech Amsterdam as a global platform we should reach out to the emerging markets in the world. We need a regional platform in the western part of the world to meet the regional needs of the growers. By organizing GreenTech Americas we are able to address the specific needs of the growers and suppliers from this emerging region. Looking at e.g. the specific climates, the producers and consumer needs. We believe the GreenTech Americas is complementing the portfolio of the domain Horticulture strategically.
Mexico has two main export markets: US and Canada. The production value is around 3,000 million of USD coming from exports of almost 3 million tons. The number of hectares under protection has a surface of 40,862 hectares, which places them on the 6th position worldwide in protected agriculture.
GreenTech Americas is organized by RAI Amsterdam – expert in organizing events in the Netherlands and worldwide with 25 national and internationals events – in corporation with Tarsus. Tarsus is part of the global company Tarsus Group plc, a leading organizer in Mexico.
