On April 18 FloraHolland infomed those employees who are going to lose their jobs this year. In the next few years, Royal FloraHolland will continue adjusting its organisation.
The auction is offering the unfortunate employees the possibility to express an interest in existing or new vacancies. Employees who cannot be transferred to fill a vacancy will become redundant. They can make use of FloraHolland’s Social Plan.
Royal FloraHolland wants to improve the margins for its growers and their buyers. It can accomplish that by increasing our revenue and lowering our costs.
To realise this possibility, it needs to re-organise its company. Yesterday Royal FloraHolland informed all of its employees what precisely that will mean for them.
Preceding this decision, FloraHolland discussed with the unions and the works council. Last week the works council sent the auction their recommendations concerning the reorganisation, containing reservations and suggestions for improvement. The MT of Royal FloraHolland incorporated these points in its decision.
The organisational change aims to achieve better service provision and higher margins.
FloraHolland shall improve its organisation by:
-Harmonising services better to the needs of growers and buyers, and developing, improving and digitising new services faster.
-Working more efficiently, for example by automating manual and operational tasks.
-Terminating commercial activities like services for which better alternatives are available
-Outsourcing work, like post distribution and copying tasks
Horticultural market is changing
The global trade in flowers and plants is changing radically. New markets are appearing, and sales through digital channels are spreading. Royal FloraHolland is responding to these developments to maintain healthy operating results in the future. In the next few years, Royal FloraHolland will continue adjusting its organisation.
