Autonomous orchid cultivation on the way

Flower cultivation based on data and with the help of robots. It will soon be a reality. The necessary software and technologies are developing rapidly, and orchid growers are getting on board.

During the online Global Orchid Event on 8 July, director Ronald Hoek reported that his company Blue Radix is starting a project with several orchid growers regarding the implementation of artificial intelligence in the day-to-day management in the greenhouse. He couldn’t share any details yet, other than that it concerns phalaenopsis growers that are members of the Global Orchid Growers. That is a group that meets once a year.

This study group was started by Jungle Talks, a developer of international horticultural concepts based in Costa Rica. They also organised the online event, which attracted more than 50 participants from the sector. (..)
