PLUS: Automation has top priority at PKM

For many years, automation has been an important way to improve products and make production more efficient at Danish pot-plant nursery PKM A/S, known worldwide for its brand Fairytale Flowers.

During the past few years, Danish nursery PKM A/S based in Odense has invested more than 1.3 million euro in the automation of their packaging process. But the huge investment is neither the first nor the last in this area.

PKM A/S was among the pioneers in the nursery industry to implement robot technology in the production of plants, to improve quality and to make the production process more efficient, and the issue has become more and more important over the years.

„Yes, we have invested large amounts in the automation of the packaging process lately. But this doesn’t mean we are done. Far from it. We automate in order to make the production more efficient, to lift the quality of our products and to save expenses for wages. This is simply necessary, if we want to be competitive in our markets, where we meet severe pressure due to the fact that Danish wages are the highest in Europe”, explains Jack Møller, CEO at PKM A/S.
