The terrible war in Ukraine dominates the news. Media are devoting a lot of attention to the conflict, 24/7. There is no escaping it. We see horrible images of people fleeing. At the time of writing, more than two million Ukrainians, mostly women and children, have already fled their country.
The war not only impacts Ukraine, the European economy is also hard hit, as are flower growers and traders. Gas and oil prices are soaring, chemical fertiliser and glass are becoming scarce, and it is no longer possible to sell flowers and potted plants to Ukraine and Russia. The new Floribusiness magazine pays a lot of attention to the war in Ukraine and the consequences for horticulture.
