UK ornamental industry full of biosecurity

People in the UK ornamental industry are fed up with the political controversy around Brexit. They are full of biosecurity and proving plant health.

At last HTA National Plant Show hardly anybody talked about Brexit, because it’s still unknown what Brexit will be and mean for the international trade.

The UK attention for biosecurity is increasing, following interceptions over the last few years of plant pests and diseases in UK import from the European continent. The HTA and UK companies are trying to protect themselves against organisms like Xylella and developed a new phytosanitary management system.

How does this system work? Is it already operational? How are the UK authorities involved? Read all the answers and more in our newest digital magazine Floribusiness.

HTA horticulture manager Alistair Yeomans: ’We have to manage very carefully the risks of importing pests. All businesses that make up the supply chain are responsible.’
