The Rwandan government started Bella Flowers, a nursery with around 20 ha of roses, two years ago. The intention was that eventually, investors would take over and manage the project. According to Sandrine Urujeni of the National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB) there’s plenty of interest from investors for Bella Flowers in Rwanda. However, the rose farm is still in the hands of the Rwandan government.
“We trust that there will be investors, eventually. That’s why we’re expanding”, says Sandrine Urujeni. She is deputy CEO at the NAEB and she explains that the acreage of the nursery is currently being doubled to a total of 40 ha. The infrastructure is there, the greenhouses are built. They’ve just started planting.
