Three growers and one other stakeholder from the sector launched a petition calling for a formal meeting with Royal FloraHolland’s Members’ Council. They want the Members’ Council to set up an external audit of Floriday, compulsory certification and the auction’s management.
“There’s a substantial group of people supporting this petition”, says Rémi van Adrichem. That was his conclusion after he’d asked buyers and growers within his network for their opinion. The pot plant grower of RM Plants in Amstelveen recently expressed his concerns about Floriday in the media as well. “Buyers aren’t really part of the petition, but they can sympathise.”
Van Adrichem is one of the initiators of the petition. The others are Martin Hogenboom of Vireõ plant sales in De Kwakel, Maurits van der Arend of Patio Plants in Klazienaveen and Robin Jongkind of software company FreshPortal. They called the campaign FloriNEE (‘FloriNO’). The five hope that the petition will force a formal meeting with the Members’ Council.
FloriNEE
During this meeting, they want to ask the Members’ Council to set up an external audit of Floriday, the compulsory certification requirement and the auction’s management. The concerns held about Floriday relate to the setup, quality and security of the platform, financing, depreciation and budgeting of future costs associated with the platform, as well as the need to phase out EAB-connect for direct trade.
